Dental Implants

Dental implants are a wonderful solution to replace missing teeth because they look, feel, and function like natural teeth.

When a tooth is removed, the bone and gum tissue shrinks as it heals.  As more time passes, the gums can recede which could expose some of the root surfaces of the adjacent teeth, contributing to sensitivity or decay.  Also, the adjacent teeth can shift over time, which may affect the patient’s bite. And since fewer teeth are sharing the chewing forces, damage can be done to the remaining nearby teeth. Dental implants prevent all of these things. They also give patients the piece of mind knowing they can eat virtually anything and speak and smile without embarrassment from missing teeth.

Dental implants are threaded titanium posts that are surgically inserted into the jawbone in the area of the missing tooth and act as a new tooth root. This is done by a periodontist or oral surgeon.  After the bone has healed properly, Dr. O’Malley will make a crown to attach onto the implant. The patient can then go on with normal life confident that their new tooth will act exactly like their original natural tooth.

Dr. O’Malley would be happy to discuss the options with anyone that is interested in a dental implant.  Just call and schedule a consultation Omaha Office Phone Number 402-333-6080.
